Sparking Joy

In today’s world, there’s a lot happening – commitments, activities, get togethers, obligations, etc. Speaking from personal experience, it can be very overwhelming.

It’s absolutely critical from a self-care perspective to manage the overwhelm and decide who/what gets your yes and who/what gets your no.

One way you can do this is by asking yourself a simple question – does XYX spark joy?

To take it a little deeper, when I think about XYZ and everything it will take to participate, do I still feel joy? Do I feel excited about XYZ or does it feel like more of an obligation? Will I regret not participating a month from now? A year from now?

Joy is so underrated. Maybe because it feels too simple. But if we aren’t feeling joyful about our commitments (the ones we can say yes/no to at least), then what’s the point?

I know this is very cliché, but our time on this Earth is so so limited. We should be spending that precious time doing things that spark joy.
